iOS app stopped syncing with desktop and web on October 19, 2026

Same issue here. Really hoping that this gets fixed, I would hate to have to move to a different app.

Sorry, I meant to say Standard Notes, not Notion. Notion was too fancy, I wanted simple.

me too – I largely use resophnotes as my desktop client (since it’s native and accordingly much faster than web/electron…) and it says it is syncing but my mobile client doesn’t show anything :(
if you guys aren’t going to support simplenote anymore, please just let us know or please open source the server so we can self-host, been using this for >15 years… -
I wrote some comparisons of apps to replace Simplenote here and also here. There are quite a few but I’m of the opinion that only Bear and Apple Notes have the same simple philosophy while also being executed well, established, and backed by an actual business. The others I listed are cool but either not simple, janky (i.e. bad or buggy UI/UX), sketchy (i.e. some guy is the dev rather than an established company), or some combination of the three.

Same problems here. No longer seems to work on IOS. Would really love this to be fixed, otherwise I’ll have to find a new app.

I sent a note via app suggested email: (email visible only to moderators and staff) and it bounced.
Did they run out of money?
I’m now extremely nervous and wanting to get my notes out of their asap – anyone have a quick an easy way?

Same. I’m among those who deleted the app from the phone and can’t log back in.
FWIW, I tried logging in from phone with a browser. No go on Safari or Brave. Firefox already has other issues with Cntrl-V not working even on desktop -

@toomanybarts
to export (or backup) your notes
Start at the desktop browser interface (I’m in firefox)
Click the sandwich menu to the top of the All Notes title
Settings
Choose the “Tools” tab
Choose “Export Notes” and it will ask permission to download -
For anyone wanting to extract their data: login to the Simplenote web app, app.simplenote.com. Select “log in manually” to avoid email issues. Open the hamburger menu and select Settings, Tools, Export. This will download a “notes.zip” file to your browser. It contains both “notes.json” with all your data in one file, and a Data folder containing each note as a text file. You can find suggestions in this forum for ways to load that content into other apps.

thank you. Now got chatgpt writing a script to preserve tags so i can import into apple notes.
Hoping apple notes can handle 1800 notes – yes i know i need to clear out some stuff here!! -

I have the same problem since the 19th of October.
Web and PC/Windows application works fine.
Mac, iPad and iPhone app do not sync.
I have tried everything suggested by Simplenote Support (Happy) Bot.

I just exported form web app and had ChatGPT convert to .ENEX file which preserves tags.
imported to Apple Notes just fine with tags and keeps created and modified date (provided you use an extracted for the notes.zip that preserves that).I guess this is it for SimpleNote. It’s a shame. I’ve used it since 2011 and love it.
(Also use Day One app another of theirs – now worried that may go under too!) -
Same issue here. Lost the MacBook notes yesterday. iPad notes today by reinstate the app. Now the iPhone is the only copy as the online login appears to have no notes after I sign in.
16+ years of notes I want to export and back up from this iPhone please.
