Simplenote entirely empty

I use the Simplenote android app, and ResophNotes on PC both synced.

This morning when pasting something into a note on my phone and attempting to pick it up on my PC using ResophNotes, I noticed it wasn’t syncing, giving “unknown network connection error”.

I subsequently found a recent post on this forum with someone else having this issue.

As a workaround until this auth.simperium.com issue is resolved, I signed in to Simplenote using my web browser.

However this shows everything as totally blank – notes, trash, everything. There is, however, a “server connection” icon (a wifi symbol struck through) in the bottom left – just above “Keyboard Shortcuts” and “Help & Support” – which, when I hover over it, brings up a popup reading “Simplenote hasn’t communicated with the server in a while; changes may not by synchronized with the server until the connection improves.”

The android app doesn’t bring up any error messages, for what its worth, but it’s fairly simple and doesn’t have any status symbol etc.

    Is Simplenote simply down?

Hi. It sounds like your internet provider may have lost the route to simperium.com. Could you try opening simperium.com in a browser? Just see if you can reach its welcome page; you won’t be able to login. Simplenote is not down, btw.

Thanks for your reply and sorry to not get back to you sooner.

“simperium.com” loads fine when pasted into my browser.

Simplenote online is now working for me as expected, though Resophnotes still isn’t syncing (coming up with the same “unknown network connection error”)…

I wonder if this is simply now the long-warned loss of Resophnotes compatibility.

If so I’ll have to start using the windows Simplenote app. I have a vague memory of much preferring Resophnotes for being less clunky and persisting handily and discreetly in the system tray.

  • Hi @tegmcn,

It sounds like this is a Resophnotes issue–we’ve seen other reports in this thread as well: https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/unknown-network-connection-error/?view=all

For now, I recommend using our apps instead of 3rd-party apps to access Simplenote. You can also use our web app at https://app.simplenote.com/.
