could not log in with provided credentials
-
Hi @skiped37ac247f8, thanks for confirming that!
Since the web app works, we can rule out any ISP-related issue. These issues seem to be related to an ongoing thread being tracked on GitHub here.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeline for a fix at the moment. In the meantime, the web app at app.simplenote.com is the best workaround.

It’s broken *again*. All I did was move my laptop to an ISP I’d never used before (Spectrum Internet in Ohio). Now when I try to login I get “Could not log in with the provided credentials” (see below). I tried upgrading to the “Simplenote-win-2.26.0-x64.exe” version, but that didn’t fix it.

I may have found a clue that could be related.
I opened a separate thread here:
https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/is-auth-simperium-com-still-supported/
While troubleshooting, I found that:
- https://api.simperium.com responds normally
- https://simperium.com responds normally
- https://auth.simperium.com resolves and responds to ping, but HTTPS connections to TCP port 443 time out
I can reproduce this on both my home ISP and a mobile hotspot.
The official Simplenote Windows app, Simplenote Web, and nvPY work for me, but ResophNotes and AlephNote do not.
Not sure whether this is related to the login issue being tracked here, but I wanted to mention it in case it helps narrow down the cause.

The official Simplenote app for Windows is broken again. The message “Could not log in with the provided credentials” appears when trying to login with a password.
