Unable to reset my password

Subject: Unable to reset my password
Hello,
I have a problem with my Simplenote account.
I want to use a password to sign in.
On the sign-in screen there is a password field and a “Reset password” option. However, when I click “Reset password”, I receive an email that only allows me to sign in with a one-time email code. I am never given the option to create a new password.
I have tried this both in the Android app and in a web browser, but the result is always the same.
Could you please tell me:
Is password-based login still supported?
If yes, how can I create or change my password?
If my account has been switched to email-code login only, is it possible to enable password login again?
Thank you for your help. -
Hi there, @bagrov1000,
Thanks for getting in touch about this, happy to help here!
To answer your questions directly:
- Yes, password-based login is still fully supported in Simplenote.
- The confusion is that the “Reset password” button inside the app actually triggers Simplenote’s email code (magic link) login, it’s not a traditional password-creation flow. That’s why you only see a one-time sign-in option in that email.
To get a proper password reset form where you can set a new password, please use the dedicated web reset page instead:
https://app.simplenote.com/forgot/Enter your email there: the email you receive from that page should give you a link to create or change your actual password.
Once you have a password set, you can log in with it anytime by going to:
https://app.simplenote.com/login-with-password/ (Or tap “Log in manually” in the Android app to skip the email code entirely.)Give that a try and let us know if it works!
