Trouble syncing between devices and signing back in to iphone simplenote app

I updated my iphone to IOS 27.0.1 last night. Today I tried to pass text from my macbook’s firefox browser to my iphone thru simplenote. Typed my text on macbook in simplenote.com in firefox, but my new simplenote note wasn’t syncing to the simplenote app on my iphone like it usually does. I logged out and back to simplenote.com on macbook, notes were still there. I logged out of simplenote app on iphone and never got my notes back. Instead I get spinning wheel. If I crash the app and restart it, there’s no spinning wheel and I’m signed into my correct account but the note collection is empty and the app is asking me to write my first note.
Can someone help me get my notes back onto my iphone? Here’s a weird clue: when I signed back in I had to use my password. I tried the sign in by email but I never received the email with the code. Suggestions?
