Syncing has stopped bet/ iphone and laptop…after 15 problem-free years of use

Yesterday, with no changes recently made to my iphone or laptop, Simplenote stopped syncing on my phone. It updates fine on my laptop and the web app. I have gone through the Help section steps, but they do not solve the problem. I do not have an ad-blocker on my phone. I ran a test of that and 93% of ads come through. I don’t have a VPN currently active on my phone. I tried to change my password thinking I could do that on both devices and get them resynced, but every time I go to the “forgot” URL it just takes me to my Simplenote page. No option change password. Any ideas on solutions?
