Install simplenote through flatpack, because i only use the flatpack store

  • Hi @fjpmarques

There is a Simplenote Flatpak on Flathub, so you can install it from your store today — but it’s worth knowing what you’re getting.

That package is community-maintained rather than published by us. It isn’t from a verified publisher on Flathub, and it’s currently on version 2.24.0 while our current release is 2.27.1, so you’d be a few releases behind on fixes.

If that trade-off is fine for you, it’ll work and you can install it as normal.

If you’d rather run the current version, our official Linux builds are all on the releases page:

    https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases/latest

Those cover .deb, .rpm, .AppImage and .tar.gz, for both x86_64 and arm64. The AppImage might suit you best if you’re avoiding traditional package managers — it’s a single file you mark executable and run, with nothing installed system-wide. It won’t show up in your software store, though.

On making the Flathub build official: that’s been requested before and the request is still open here:

    https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/issues/3265

Adding your voice there is the best way to register interest. I can’t promise anything on it — Simplenote is in limited maintenance at the moment, so work is focused on keeping the core app running.

    Hope that helps.
