Recovered page link fails and only opens login pg.

    Published page was accidentally trashed, but recovered with ^, but link fails. Will it fix itself. Can someone please fix it. A lot of people used it I think.

    Hi. If you unpublished a page, then republished it, I expect you’ll have to share the new link that was generated for the note.

    I didn’t republish it yet, It still shows itself with the original address although I had recovered it from trash.

    I just copied it again to see.

    Hi there, @sharingtruth7,

    I think I figured out what happened here.

    When a note is moved to trash, Simplenote automatically unpublishes it for security reasons (so the public link stops working). Recovering the note from trash brings it back to your account, but it doesn’t automatically restore the published state. That’s why the simp.ly link is currently redirecting to the login page instead of showing your note.

    The good news is that your note and its content should be completely intact. Here’s how to try fixing the link:

    1. Open the note in Simplenote
    2. Click the Share icon (or the Publish option in the menu)
    3. Toggle Publish back on

    Simplenote should restore the same simp.ly URL you had before, since it’s tied to that specific note, so anyone who already had the link should be able to access it again without you needing to re-share it.

    Stefmattanna,

    Turns out the Brave browser wouldn’t open the share link; but, only the simplenote log in page. The settings in Brave were not supposed to let this happen. DDG didn’t have this problem.

    I already made a new share link, which doesn’t do much good. I haven’t bothered sending it out. I deleted all the addresses a long time ago as I didn’t want to send to strangers more than once and annoy them.

    I suppose a tech could make my old link work again.

    Thanks for the update.

    Just to confirm on the old link: once a note is unpublished and republished, the previous link is retired and a new one is generated. There isn’t a way to restore the old URL, so the new link is the one to share going forward.
