Read Only Credentials On Subscription for Guest Users
-
Hi,
When i subscribe for login, it is possible to give a guest user or Read only user??? I would be the admin and wanted to share the contents with all guest via guest user.
Is that possible?
Thanks

There isn’t an option to add a read-only account to your existing account. You can either add a collaborator to a post, who can edit it, or you can publish the post
Here are those options:
– https://simplenote.com/help/#sharingI hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Is it possible to provide an option for the same ? That would be great…
Need the following
a. Read-Only access
b. Collaborator access – edit/update or delete or CRUD

@javadev2025 Were you able to take a look at the links provided by Fox?
Publishing would be the only way to share a post with read only access. If you share post with someone then they would be able to collaborate.
Let us know if you have any further questions or suggestions for future features.

It seems like these are long-standing needs. See
https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/guest-login-credentials/#post-950 and https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/share-notes-or-notes-collection-along-with-search-via-a-url/#post-269
Maybe Simplenote cannot meet these requirements.

@johnswift37 I don’t understand what is the difficulty in this requirement to have the complexity to support as ACL is common in all applications in general

My colleagues addressed your request on this similar thread: https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/guest-login-credentials/
Customer feedback is a very helpful tool as we work to prioritize new features. As my colleagues have shared, we added your suggestion to our feature requests.
If you have any other recommendations, feel free to let us know!

Thank you. I have only the following recommendation
- Guest User – Read Only User Credentials to share with friends – So that nobody will be able to update/delete
- Public URL which doesn’t need credentials to access WHOLE Notebook instead of just 1 single note
- Type-ahead search with number of matches found

We’ve taken note of your requests, and they might be considered for future release. However, we can’t promise a specific timeline for their implementation. We appreciate your understanding!

As mentioned here, we recommend that you consider creating a site or blog.
With WordPress.com, you have the option to set your site to “private”. This means that only those with whom you share access will be able to view your site. You can also create a membership site.
If you have any further questions about setting up a WordPress.com site, the support guide is a great resource. Of course, you can always reach out to the support team for assistance.
