Note encryption

Hello,
The fact that notes are not encrypted at rest is the only reason that I’m not using SimpleNotes, and it’s terribly frustrating, since I otherwise LOVE the app, including its synchronization with nvAlt on the Mac.
I’m curious why this feature doesn’t exist. If it’s a matter of cost, would you have an estimate of the cost to add this feature?

Simplenote is designed to be simple and fast to sync content across all devices. Due to server side constraints, encryption at rest would not support those goals, which is why it hasn’t been added. I know this is less than ideal, but for now, we aren’t considering adding the feature and do not recommend you use Simplenote to store sensitive information like passwords.

I’d like encryption too. So I could store fleeting notes like passwords. But I do NOT want ANY new feature which would interfere with the blazingly fast sync that Simplenote shows! That sync speed is amazing and of overriding importance. If encryption would interfere then forget encryption! I love efficiency!

Hi all, I’m new to this forum, but an avid user of SN, as it is so simple to use it on both smartphones, pads and PC, but you wouldn’t like to create a note containing your passwords or other sensible data, would you?
Well here you go: with help of google AI today I created a small html prog, that runs entirely local in your browser and is able to encrypt and decrypt any plain text in a very simple manner. So I will now set up a password note, encrypt it and save that as a new note – and delete the other one for ever. Here is, what you are looking for (published with SN):

btw: it would be so nice if this little bit of code could be integrated in SN, but then: SN is online for syncing, which would create a risk – other than my encryption piece that works strictly local, thus the data will never leave your device ;-)
