not receiving password reset code or

I downloaded SimpleNote from the Mac App Store years ago. I just changed computers with a new Mac OS and on the new computer, downloaded the App again and I can’t access my SimpleNote. Usually apps downloaded from the Mac App Store just require the email used for my Mac and my passcode. This worked fine for my other Mac App Store apps. but this does not work for Simplenote.
Suddenly SimpleNote wants me to log-in with WordPress or something.
I tried the Forgot my password window several times and have not rec’d a response allowing me to reset the password and access my years of notes!
I also got a window asking for my email saying it would send a passcode allowing me to login. No passcode received. I tried multiple times today.
Any chance of recouping my notes?
