No longer able to paste plain text in Win 10
-
Just today CTL V only pastes text with formatting and URLs with markup. I was used to CTL V pasting only plain text but now my copy and paste into Simplenote does not allow it. There is no menu or right click option to paste plain text. I was very satisfied with the ability to paste article titles and URLs as plain text to include in my work but now I need a tool that can paste plain text. Don’t know why this happened today but I wish it didn’t. Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.

Hi. Have you checked this thread, https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/ctrl-v-not-working/

Thanks for the suggestion. ctrl-shift-v does indeed fix my problem even though I am not a Firefox user and my situation is standalone on Win 11. No browser involved. I don’t consider this a fix since paste on the menu is also messed up. At least I have a workaround and I appreciate your assistance.

Hi @terrymolinari,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
@johnswift37 you’re correct. Simplenote recently changed how pasting works on the web and desktop apps. When content includes formatting, it’s now converted to Markdown rather than being pasted as plain text.
As you’ve already discovered,
Ctrl+Shift+V(orCmd+Shift+Von Mac) can be used to paste without formatting.I understand this isn’t quite the same as the previous behavior, especially if you frequently paste article titles and URLs as plain text. I’ve shared your feedback with the team, as you’re not the only person who’s been surprised by this change.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know about it, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else we can help with.
