Markdown not optional?

  On MacOS 26.6.2, M3 Pro, with newest desktop Simplenote (2.27.1) the markdown option (three dots “actions” -> Markdown checkbox in top right corner) seems to be mostly ignored ie it interprets markdown regardless. E.g.

  # something

  displays in large font (except for #, which is displayed but in regular font size)

  **something**

  displays in bold (this time including the asterisks)

  The only different on checking the “markdown” box is that a preview (eye) icon appears. That display is different, but works as expected.

  It would be nice for markdown markers to not affect anything if no markdown option is checked.

  Hi. I believe the “live” markdown interpretation was added in a recent update to some of the Simplenote apps, possibly those based on the Electron platform. It cannot be disabled, unfortunately
