Forgot PIN number, how do I reset it?

  I forgot my PIN number to my simplenote app! How do I reset it safely and soon?

  I am on iOS Apple. Using an iPhone SE second gen.

  Hi @diluvialphonics,

  I’m really sorry for the long wait here. I can see you’ve been waiting since May 25, and I appreciate your patience.

  The good news is that this is fixable.

  Just to make sure we’re on the same page, this is about the Passcode lock, the numeric PIN that locks the Simplenote app itself when you open it, under Settings → Security → Passcode.

  That PIN is stored only on your device, not on your account, so there is no way to recover the PIN itself. The safest way to clear it is to delete the app and reinstall it:

  1. Delete the Simplenote app from your iPhone.
  2. Reinstall it from the App Store.
  3. Open the app and sign in with your Simplenote email address and password.

  Your notes are stored on your Simplenote account, not just on the phone, so they will sync back automatically once you sign in. Reinstalling the app only clears the local passcode, it does not delete your notes or your account.

  Once you’re back in, you can set a new passcode under Settings → Security if you’d like to keep the lock enabled.
