Feature Request: Add Simplified Chinese (简体中文) Support to Web Version

    Hello Simplenote team,

I’m writing to request the addition of Simplified Chinese (简体中文) language support to the Simplenote web version.

Currently, the mobile apps (iOS and Android) already support Simplified Chinese, which proves the translation exists and the feature is technically feasible. However, the web version—and surprisingly the desktop apps too—still lack this localization option.

Since the desktop app is built with Electron (essentially web technologies), it would make sense for the web version to also include Simplified Chinese support, ensuring consistency across all platforms.

Many Chinese users would greatly appreciate this addition, as it would significantly improve accessibility and usability for native speakers.

I’m also willing to help with translation if needed—Simplified Chinese is my native language, and I’d be happy to contribute to make this happen.Thank you for considering this request!

  • Hey there! You’re right that the web app and desktop apps don’t currently support any UI localization at all, so this isn’t specific to Simplified Chinese.

There’s no timeline for adding localization to those platforms, but the request has been noted.

As for your offer to help with translations, I don’t have a specific contribution process to point to right now, but you can always check back in the future! Thanks for reaching out. :)
