Disable Two-Factor Authentication?

Sometimes I’m in a hurry and want to paste a bunch of text into SimpleNote, but then logging in slows me down because I have to copy and paste the erification code from my email.

I just want to log in. I don’t need the extra step. Is this possible?

Hi. When opening the Simplenote web app, there is an option to “login manually”. That opens a page where you enter your email and password in the conventional way.

Also, if you “Remember me”, you only need to login every 14 days. You browser holds a cookie that authenticates you until it expires.

  • Hi @avatterott!

What you’re seeing isn’t two-factor authentication. Simplenote offers two login methods:

    • Login via Email sends a one-time code to your email each time you sign in. This is the default.
    • Login with Password lets you sign in with your email and password directly, skipping the code.

You can’t fully disable the verification emails, but you can avoid them by using the password login instead.

On the web, you can bookmark this page to go straight to the password login:

    https://app.simplenote.com/login-with-password/

On mobile and desktop apps, enter your email on the login screen, then tap “Enter password” to switch to the password flow.

If the web app keeps asking you to log in frequently, try allowing cross-site cookies for app.simplenote.com in your browser settings. That should keep your session active for about 14 days.

    Does this help? :)
