Cannot login to Simplenote Windows app

  I am trying to login to the Simplenote Windows app. I enter my email address and receive a message “Could not log in with the provided credentials.” However, this same email address works correctly on the Simplenote web page login.

  Can you please assist?

  Hi @bentreadgold, thanks for sharing your troubleshooting notes.

  Some additional details would help:

  • Which version of the Windows app are you running, and where did you install it from — the Microsoft Store, or a download from GitHub? The version is under Settings, or Help > About Simplenote. The current release is 2.27.1, https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases#release-v2.27.1
  • When you try to log in, which option are you using, Log in with email or Log in with WordPress.com?
  • If you’re using Log in with email, does the app ever get as far as showing a screen that asks for a code sent to your inbox? Or does the error appear immediately, before any code screen? If the error appears before you ever reach the code screen, then the app isn’t rejecting your credentials, it’s likely failing to reach our login service.
  • Have you tried reinstalling the app? If not, please give it a try.
