  Hi. I believe you’re showing the Simplenote web app. The keyboard icon causes the on-screen keyboard to open, when on a mobile device. It is necessary because positioning the cursor does not automatically open the keyboard, unlike native mobile apps. If you’re using an external keyboard, you may never need this icon.
