How can I make the Simplenote windows app start automatically when I turn on my computer? I don’t see the ability to add it to the start up apps.

This is not a feature that we offer. However, we do have a open feature request for this and I have added a vote to it on your behalf.
In the meantime, you should be able to move it to the startup folder. Maybe you can try the steps in this guide:
