[Windows] Request for Silent Startup on Boot

Due to my specific needs, I need to set Simplenote to launch automatically at startup and run in the background. However, whenever I set Simplenote as a startup app, a window always pops up no matter what. This forces me to manually close the window every time I start my computer, which feels quite inconvenient.

I would like to request a “silent startup” feature. Ideally, this feature would allow the app to start automatically without displaying its window, while still keeping sync and notification functions active. The app window would only appear when I manually open the software.

  • I’d be happy to forward this along to our team! Could you share with us a bit more about what this type of feature would allow for you? Is there a specific reason why you would want the app open on boot rather than launching the application when you’re ready to start using it?

@mikerockwell I created a shortcut on my iOS device that allows me to add content from my clipboard to a new Simplenote note. This way, I can transfer text between my iOS and Windows devices. Outside of a local network, I haven’t found any better way to transfer text between iOS and Windows other than using Simplenote. That’s why I hope the Windows version of Simplenote can have an option to start automatically when the system boots up.

I’ve had this post up for a long time—why hasn’t anyone responded or followed up yet?

  • @nianbroken Thanks for the additional context of your use case. We’ll note them down for future considreation. Thanks again for your suggestion.
