“Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file” from new install

  After installing Simplenote from the Windows app store, it refuses to load. This is on Windows 10 version 22H2 (build 19045.3693). Trying to launch it from the Start menu gets zero response, and clicking the “Open” button in the installer gets only this popup:

  Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

  Any ideas? Changing folder or file permissions seems like a road to ruin, don’t want to try that; the installer should set things like that. I’m trying to migrate off Evernote, have successfully installed Simplenote on my Mac laptop but need it on my PC too. Thanks for any help!

  Uninstalled the non-functioning Simplenote app .. life is too short for this

  If you’d like to try again I recommend installing the latest release from here if the Window’s Store isn’t working: https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases/tag/v2.21.0
