Urgent: Missing Password Note

  Hello,

  One of my notes disappeared unexpectedly from my account.
  It was definitely there very recently, but now it is missing in both the iPhone app and the web version.

  The note contains important personal information, so I am very concerned and would appreciate any assistance in recovering it.

  Could someone please check if it can be restored from backups or version history?

  The note was found. It appears that it had been overwritten and become a different note. I apologize for the inconvenience.

  Glad to hear you solved it. But I have a couple of suggestions:

  First, you should never store critical private data in Simplenote. Notes are stored unencrypted, so anyone cracking you account would have full access.

  Second, general fact. Notes are stored as anonymous objects. The browser we see lists notes by their first lines, the “titles”. Those titles are not filenames as we normally think of them. You can view them as similar to email subject lines. So, your note did not become a different note; you just changed the title, maybe by pasting some text at the top. Incidentally, a quick way to find something like this is to search for a word in the note.
