The search function has an bug in iOS in case using the Chinese characters

Simplenote version: 4.5.3, iOS: 17.6.1, iPhone 14
I found there is a bug in case I use the Simplenote app to seach a Chinese character in my notes in my iPhone (my example is to search “美区”, the result can not find it). The strange thing is that not all the Chinese characters can not be searched(e.g. If I search 美, nly one of the two words in the above example, the result is ok). Thank you.

I just tested this on my end using the latest version of Simplenote — 4.55 — and iOS 17.6.1 and was able to find results for “美区” with my search. Could you try updating to the latest version of the app to see if the problem persists?

Than you for the feedback but the issue is still there. I have just updated the Simplenote to 4.55 in my iPhone(Delete the app and resinstall it from my US apple id) but I still can not find the result for “美区”. Actually the search result do point me to the specific note(which do inclued 美区) but when I entert the note it shows(at the bottom of the page) the result is 0. Let me put a real sentence which includes “美区” in my actual note below as an example. Does the issue has somthing to do with the character type before “美区”, it is not a Chinese character before it.

Hi @sunliang,
Thank you for your time and effort in helping us with the troubleshooting!
It sounds like you’ve identified a similar scenario where the search results aren’t highlighting the search term (“美区”) even though it’s present in the note. This is actually a known issue with Simplenote on iOS when searching for terms with multiple character types.
To help us track and prioritize a fix, our developers have documented this issue on GitHub: https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-ios/issues/1212. I have added your report to the GitHub issue.
