Tag On Import, Request
-
I get why you don’t do folders, tags will suffice. Great. And I get why you don’t do multiple tagging (keeping it simple). So, I’d like to request that imported notes can be tagged with a desired tag before import (i.e. type the tag into the import dialogue).
My use case is I want to migrate from Evernote to Simplenote. Each of my Evernote folders has been exported as a single enex file which I can happily import into Simplenote. However, it is not practical for me to manually tag over 500 notes.
I believe it is in keeping with SimpleNotes minimalist approach to simply type a tag before importing. It wouldn’t be hard to implement either. Without this feature it really isn’t possible from me to migrate. And I cannot imagine how anyone with organised Evernotes could ever migrate.
Unless you have a suggestion? -
Hi. This is a good suggestion. But I want to mention that Simplenote does allow multiple tags. A few of my note have 5 or 6 tags, because I want quick acess not matter which “folder” I am viewing. It does not allow nested tags, or subtags.

Glad it’s a good idea.
By “multiple tagging” I was referring to the fact that you cannot select multiple notes and tag them all at once. -
@5gc5b67c6g thanks for your initial idea of tagging before importing. We’ll make sure to note it.
@johnswift37 Thanks also for clarifying that Simplenote can do multiple tags on one note.
But yes, @5gc5b67c6g is correct that Simplenote doesn’t support tagging multiple notes at once, as it’s also brought up here.

Are there any news on tagging on import? I’m mearging from crappy Evernote, and have more than 3000 notes that needs tagging. It’s gonna be useless without. I understand and like the way to keep it simple, that’s exactly what I’m looking for that Evernote lost long ago. But, this is just too simple. I’m more a fan of the folder option in Evernote, where I can simply drag a note from one folder to another or mark several and move. Same goes for a multi tag rename by marking several notes. And a note counter for total and in each tag would be really nice also

@inbreak666, no news yet. I’ve made sure to add a vote for this on your behalf in our internal list of feature requests, however!
