Sync issues in Firefox on one device
-
On the browser app on my laptop, I have several notes that aren’t syncing to the server. On my laptop, I can see notes created on other devices (iOS + browser on my desktop), but those other devices can’t see notes I created on this device, and the non-syncing notes have the “refreshing” animation in the left pane that won’t go away.
Refreshing Simplenote on this browser does not fix the issue, nor does restarting Firefox. Refreshing with no cache while Console and Network inspectors are visible show no JS console errors nor HTTP request failures – the one non-green request is the websocket one with 101 Switching Protocols result. (I don’t know how to debug websocket any further, let me know if there’s something I can do)
Using Firefox 114.0.2 on OS X 13.4.

Going to the Simplenote menu shows the server connection OK, and the About page shows Simplenote version 2.19.1.

I have also disabled my adblocker for Simplenote, and don’t have any firewall or vpn configured.

Ok, I have solved the issue for now by “threatening to log out” — I clicked Menu > Settings > Log Out. It presented a modal alert with some unreadably-fast info about unsynchronized notes, which flickered quickly into a message saying “All notes synchronized!” and the option to log out or cancel. At this point it wasn’t necessary to actually log out — whatever work Simplenote was doing to display that message also seems to have caused it to sync up properly, and I can see my notes on my other devices now.
Still seems to indicate a Simplenote bug, but maybe this step can help future people!

Hi @lincolnquirk 👋
Thanks for sharing what you’ve done to resolve the sync issue in the web app! Since you’re using ad-blocker, please also have a look at my response in this similar topic: https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/some-notes-syncing-others-not/?view=all#post-587
Thanks again!
