[Suggestion] Arabic Text Alignment and Direction Issue
-
Hello Everyone,,
I’ve noticed an issue when typing in Arabic within the Simplenote app. Arabic is a right-to-left (RTL) language, but currently, when I type in Arabic, the text starts from the left side of the screen and aligns left, as if it were a left-to-right (LTR) language.
For a better writing and reading experience in Arabic, I kindly suggest implementing proper RTL support. Specifically:
Arabic text should align to the right side of the note area.
The cursor and typing direction should follow right-to-left flow automatically when Arabic is detected.
This feature would significantly improve usability for Arabic-speaking users and ensure that the app handles multilingual content more gracefully.Thank you for considering this suggestion!

Hi. Are you using one of the Simplenote apps on a specific platform (iOS, Android, Windows, etc.), or the Simplenote web app in a browser? The different versions have different implementations, due to the support of the underlying platform.

+1 Totally agree! RTL support in the web version is really needed—Arabic text isn’t displaying correctly and it affects readability. The Android app handles it well, so hoping the web version catches up soon. Appreciate you raising this!

Hey again! After submitting my last post, I realized the issue only affects the editing view—preview works perfectly (in the web version). It might be related to how Joplin handles Markdown rendering or editor plugins. I’d appreciate any tips to make the editing experience smoother, or if there’s a recommended configuration that works well for technical notes and long content. Thanks in advance!
