Sort order
-
I manually transfered all my notes from another app on android yesterday to SimpleNote on my android phone & my iPad. All went well, mostly. However there are a half dozen or so notes, (out of about 90), at the top that are not in alphabetical order. I have tried settings on both devices but that doesn’t rearrange them in proper order. They were not necessarily the last ones entered. How can I fix this?

Hi. Are they possibly “pinned” (shows a pushpin icon beside the title)? You can unpin them in the iOS app by swiping left on the title, or using the (…) action menu when editing a note. Not sure about Android.

Try opening them and editing the title line? There might be a funny character at the beginning or end. The list of notes in Simplenote just displays the title of each note. They are not filenames or any other sort of identifier. You can create two notes with the same title.

Btw, have you set the sort order in the app Settings? I believe it does not default to alphabetical?

oh yeah, set “sort order” was the first thing I did.
the solution was to clear title & reenter it. On the several that didn’t follow sort order there was an extra space before the first letter. Now it works like a charm. Thanks you Forum. This was the first time I’ve ever used one.

@demeritt9182 I’m glad to hear you found the cause of the sort issue! Since this is now resolved, I’ll go ahead and close the topic. But you can feel free to open a new one if you have any other questions!
