Some of my notes are gone
-
Hello,
I created a note a few days ago on my phone, which I updated consistently that day. However, I opened my App today and saw that only a little part of the note got synced. I have logged out and logged in again, yet nothing. I have used my web app as well, but nothing. Please, I really need to get back this note today because I need to submit the content. How can you help me?

I’m having the same issue. I’ve had it twice this week. I work offline on my tablet on public transport in the morning. This usually syncs as soon as I get to work and my tablet connects to the wifi. Twice this week, I’ve lost everything I’ve written in the morning and it isn’t in my history and cannot be restored. I’ve never had any issues with this in the past–this is why I use Simplenote instead of Google Docs or any other app with syncing issues.

Hi there!
I’m sorry to hear you’ve all been having trouble with syncing notes. For future reference, you can find some steps on how to get started on these issues in our help guides: https://simplenote.com/help/#lost.
The first thing I’d want to make sure you all do is to check through the history revisions of the notes to see if the content appears in full in one of the revisions listed. Sometimes the revisions won’t show in chronological order depending on when they have synced to the server, so make sure you go through them all or any duplicate notes. If one of the revisions does show your content, you can restore this and that should update.
If you can’t find the content, then can you confirm for me if the note is showing on the original device it was written on or on the web app at app.simplenote.com?
If it’s not showing on the web app or the original device, it’s likely we won’t be able to recover the content. But we’d like to try and make sure we gather some details to understand how this might have happened. Could you please let us know:
- What device you use Simplenote on
- What operating systems and versions
- the Simplenote versions on each
This will help us to better investigate the issue.
Thank you!
