Simplenote Servers Performance Issues August 2023

  • There are currently some performance issues with the Simplenote servers that may affect the synchronization, publishing, and collaboration features. The team is actively working on resolving the issue and hopes to have it fixed as soon as possible.

In the meantime, I highly recommend that you export your notes as a backup: https://simplenote.com/help/#export

We appreciate your patience while we look into this issue.

    UPDATE:

This is now resolved. If you’re still seeing issues please try the following:

    1. Export your notes (or copy the notes to somewhere if only a few not syncing)
    2. Sign out and back into the app

Thanks for the acknowledgement! I’m hoping that it’s an easy fix.

Thanks for being on top of these issues Simplenote team.
I have noticed this problem reoccurring periodically. If it is a matter of cost, perhaps it’s time to bring Ads to Simplenote or ask the Community for contributions / subscriptions? I can imagine that managing an ever increasing number of notes is only getting more costly. Just level with the Community, and I’m sure many folks will be happy to chip in.

Thanks, as always, for an amazing Note Taking service. 🙂

Any updates on the servers and whether the synching is back online?

Thanks for your time in updating this thread.

  • Hi @rcosgrov and y’all! The team is still working hard on restoring the services to you, I’ll keep you updated whenever I have news for you. Fingers crossed we’ll be able to get it resolved soon.

Thanks y’all for your patience and continuous support!

The new update for Android has an option to become a “Simplenote Sustainer“.
This is exactly what I was thinking, but the options to support the App are insane.

    Monthly : $26.99 / Yearly : $274.99

Supporting a Note Taking App at twice the cost of a Netflix Subscription per month? This really seems excessive.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Patreon model with Monthly Contributions starting at $5, or doing 1 time donations for any amount someone can afford.

Better to have thousands of people chipping in small amounts, then a handful of people being willing to add the cost of another Cell Phone plan to their monthly expenses.

I believe many users would be happy to support the App. I know I am, but the support has to have reasonable options of remuneration.

@simplenotefan4125 Per the blog post here there is a suggestion form for alternate amounts here.

Personally I would like to see something not involving the app stores (in addition to, not instead of) so Automatic can get 100% of the payment. The proven value for value model says that there are plenty of people that will pay something if they get to chose the amount, and it might even be more than current pricing.

This is a pretty good app, it’s worth some money.

I am not a sustainer the moment, but I agree with previous poster would pay a subscription rate of like $5 or even $10 a month for Simplenote – it’s one of my top productivity apps and I love it. Just promise not to spend it on a bunch of features that ruin the simplicity! Text only rocks – I would just love to keep the money flowing into the backend to make sure engineers get paid and the servers run smoothly

I think you will do best with a subscription model that let’s people give what they feel is right. I use Filesync and a few other apps this way and I think that they do well. millions giving a dollar beats a thousand giving ten.

Ads suck and don’t allow you to concentrate on the product. Instead you start concentrating on eyeballs.

SImplenote is a great app and I would be happy to support it in this manner.

This is beyond infuriating. And I can’t contact anyone but thru this forum???? Hahahaha awesome joke. Is there ANY way I will be able to retrieve the deleted information on some of my notes??? Either whenever you get your shit together by fixing these bugs or thru some other means, like maybe a cache I can somehow get access to somewhere??? I’m grasping at straws.

Chiming in to say that I too would be happy to pay perhaps $10-12 per month, assuming these server issues get fixed. Until then I guess I have to shift over to some other app (or break out the old pocket notebook), but I like SimpleNote enough that I’d come back even if it takes a month or two to sort this out.

I can understand people being upset about losing some data, but try to remember that this app has always been completely free, and although it may outwardly appear ‘simple’, the process of instantaneous syncing between multiple devices must be extremely complicated on the back end. It was always obvious the developers would eventually need to start charging money, asking for money, or allow the functionality to break down–it seems like they’re doing #2 and #3 right now…

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m waiting for it to be fixed!hurry up

  • Unknown's avatar

That’s all fine and well if you can afford $10-12 a month, great awesome love that for you. ~Try to remember~ I literally don’t care. That’s like telling me because Gmail is free I shouldn’t expect it to work. They’re still getting paid to do a job, a service, and this is an unacceptable amount of time with an unacceptable amount of information about it.

If you are running your work / life off a note app you need

    1. Sync Stability

    2. Regular updates when there are issues with service

Other than Apple notes what are the reasonable alternatives to Simplenote ?
