Simplenote crashes upon attempts to open it, on my iMac M1 (Sequoia)

How can I fix Simplenote? I can’t open the app at all, it instantly crashes. Works fine on my iPhone. I went to the App Store, and it shows version 2.21 as the current. I clicked Open on the Simplenote page in the App Store, and it crashes there, too. Hmmmm. …I noticed the app trying to open, so I screen grabbed a video of it, and the app appears – with notes files I’d named – for one frame, along with a dialog:
“The last time you opened Simplenote, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?
“If you choose not to reopen windows, you may have to open and position the windows yourself.
Buttons: Reopen Don’t Reopen”

Hi. This earlier post, https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/mac-app-keeps-crashing-still/#post-4590 may help. You might also see if you can download a version not from the Apple App Store, possibly from GitHub; that has worked for similar problems on Windows computers.
