Simperium down? no notes on app or desktop when login
-
hello, this morning I changed my password for simplenote for security reasons. But on logging back in to the iPhone app all my notes are gone and there’s a spinning wheel. Logging into the desktop version on both phone and laptop shows no notes and server connection is down. Luckily i have my notes on the laptop app which I’ve not logged out of, but I have no way to export them. I’m going simperium is down and it’ll reconnect soon? I’m worried I’ll lose my notes.
I tried to connect to simperium website and that isn’t connecting either.
all WiFi and connections are same as I always use and my Internet connection is working perfectly and is exactly as it has always been.any news? Thanks

Hi. simperium is not down; I just connected in the Simplenote web app. Your internet provider may have difficulty connecting; there’s not much Automattic can do about that.
Since you changed your password, you likely need help from one of the mods here. Their intervention is often required to effect password changes.

@mickkinlan when I check the stats for the Simplenote account that matches the email address you’re using for the forums, I am seeing that there are notes saved to your account. Are you still having trouble seeing them on your end or are you able to see them now?
If you still aren’t seeing them in the iPhone app, could you try logging in to the Simplenote web app from within a web browser at https://app.simplenote.com/?
Then, please check the notes from there to see if they are all correct and up to date.
If they are, you can safely log out and log back in to the Simplenote app on all your devices. When you log in again, all of the notes that are stored on the Simplenote service will be re-synced and that should resolve any syncing issues going forward.
If you aren’t seeing the correct notes in the web app or another Simplenote app, please let us know and we can continue troubleshooting from there. Please let us know:
- What devices you use Simplenote on
- Their operating systems and versions
- The Simplenote versions on each

@johnswift37 I checked again, and from our end, there doesn’t seem to be an issue with @mickkinlan’s account even after the password change, and I can confirm the same thing Mike saw with notes still saved to the account.
@mickkinlan Can you please check if you can still see all your notes on the web app (https://app.simplenote.com/) at least?

hi, this must have been an issue with my server or internet provider as the notes came back the next day and all in good order. Thank you all for your help.

@mickkinlan I’m glad to hear everything is working again! Please let us know if you run into issues again in the future!

My 4 different devices, 2 x MacBook, iPad and iPhone all showed different versions of my notes last night. I tried a different browser on 1 MacBook and it showed a version of notes from about 2 weeks ago. I logged out of the Web App on my main MacBook and when logging in all my notes were gone. From another browser I was able to download a backup thankfully.
I have moved to Apple Notes. Easy process to import the backup to there and I did a few notes I had updated yesterday manually to be safe (cut & paste).
3 or 4 times a year it seems Simplenote gets extremely unreliable. No more of this nonsense for me ! A shame after 10+ years.
To backup Apple Notes on the MacBook I am using: http://falcon.star-lord.me/exporter/ This works perfectly in the absence of being able to back up Apple Notes directly other than by 1 by 1 !
May Simplenote’s memory be a blessing.
