Randomly deleting a few words
-
Seeing if anyone else has found a fix: on my latest iPad, SimpleNote seems to have a glitch whereby it deletes a few words from the line I’m working on. Of course, this makes it useless! I’ve tried the regular first line fixes (restarting the device; deleting and re-installing SimpleNote); and of course I checked that it’s only SimpleNote that is doing this. Any suggestions for fixes very very welcome!

Hmm. Working fine for me, iPad Air M2, iPadOS 18.3.1, using the Typefinity keyboard. I’d suspect either a glitch with your keyboard app, or Apple Intelligence (which I’ve turned off).
When you deleted and reinstalled Simplenote, did you delete its data as well, so you had to login to the new install? This could be important.

Thanks @johnswift37 for confirming and the tips!
@elhulme1 If you still have the issue, as a starter, please let us know the following:
- what devices (make and model) you use Simplenote on
- their operating systems and versions
- the Simplenote versions on each
Also, are you able to reproduce the same on the web app https://app.simplenote.com/?
If so, what’s the browser and version you use to access the web app?

Hi! Thanks, yes, this problem has persisted.
I’m using an Apple iPad 10th gen. OS is 18.3.2.
Simplenote is ver 4.55
The problem doesn’t occur on the web version (although the iPad doesn’t handle that version well either- for example, it’s impossible to highlight multiple words on the web version).
Huge thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I agree that the Simplenote web app cannot select multiple words when using iOS browsers. Tested Safari and iCabMobile. Text creation and editing appear to work normally, though.

@elhulme1 Can you try logging in to the Simplenote web app from within a web browser at https://app.simplenote.com/?
Then, please check the notes from there to see if they are all correct and up to date.
If they are, you can safely log out and log back in to the Simplenote app on your iPad. When you log in again, all of the notes that are stored on the Simplenote service will be re-synced and that should resolve any issues going forward.
If you’re still experiencing the issue after reinstalling or you’re not seeing the correct notes in the web app, please let us know!

Hint: Use the “Modified: Newest” Display Setting in the web app to quickly confirm that your latest changes are updated on the server.
