Note changes disappeared?
-
Hi there, on 2024-06-26, when I woke up, there were two notes from the previous day that I had worked on, but those changes are now completely missing. One was a new note (totally missing now). One was additions to an existing note. I’ve checked the note history from multiple devices and see no evidence of my changes. I have no reason to believe my changes were not synchronized. This is from the iOS client version 4.51.
The UTC time window of missing changes is sometime in between
2024-06-26T02:28:00Zand2024-06-26T15:03:00Z(Tue 6/25 9:28pm ET to Wed 6/26 10:03am ET).Has anyone else noticed missing changes in that time window? Thanks for your help.

Hi. You can check what’s really on the Simplenote server by logging to app.simplenote.com in a browser (and dealing with annoying captcha).
I wonder if the iOS device where the notes were created/edited had some sort of time problem, causing it to believe that the server content was more current.

Thanks. I did check via the website and also on the desktop clients — no luck.
It’s a very interesting hypothesis, but I have no reason to believe there was any device time problem. In any case, I scrolled through the entire history of the note, and see no misdated history.

@compumike Typically, lost notes can be located either in the Trash or within the history of an existing note. We usually suggest checking the trash and revisions in the app you frequently use.
It seems like you’ve already looked through the revisions. Have you had a chance to check the trash yet?
Restoring notes from the Trash can be beneficial as it allows you to view their history. Be sure to pay extra attention to any blank notes or unfamiliar titles. Also, use the search field to look for any content that might have been in the note. We don’t recommend just searching for the title, as people often struggle to find notes when they accidentally delete or alter the title text.
