Not synching
-
Not synching between laptop and mobile. I made a change on the mobile several hours ago, but it has not shown up on the laptop. There is absolutely no issues with the internet on either. Rock solid.
-
Hi there! The Simplenote servers were having some performance issues. This impacts sync, which is why you saw those errors with duplication. The team has now restored service, so hopefully these issues are resolved. Please, let us know if you still have any troubles.

I am having the same problem. Set things up on the Android app. does not seem to sync with Windows 11. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi there,
Can you try logging in to the Simplenote web app from within a web browser at https://app.simplenote.com/?
Then, please check the notes from there to see if they are all correct and up to date.
If they are, you can safely log out and log back in to the Simplenote app on all your devices. When you log in again, all of the notes that are stored on the Simplenote service will be re-synced and that should resolve any syncing issues going forward.

I logged out and back on numerous times with no results. Synching was working on my Android phone app but not on my Chromebook. It worked from another Chromebook but not this one. I deleted browsing history numerous times with not result. I loaded Firefox app onto the Chromebook and it worked. I then reset Chrome and it worked.
Very frustrating; this is not the first time this has happened.
What is being done to fix this?

No consigo acceder a ninguna de mis cuentas. Lo intente en Androide, IOS y Web y es imposible. ¿Puede que se haya caído el servidor de Simplenote.?
-
-
no, it has nothing to do with the internet service! It worked fine from another device. So simplenote is hanging on to something that should be cleared out instead of hanging on to something device specific.
-
The last 3 or 4 days have been unstable.
Probably best to head to Apple Notes given the lack of enthusiasm from Simplenote Support.
-
johnswift37. See my last two sentences, please. It was NOT the internet. Having worked in IT since 1998, I know how to confirm that. 🤪

@radiantland8d75d9f1c8, @sebadams61, and @musicollector8cf7e1ee6c To help us investigate, can you let us know which of our apps you’re checking? Are you all on the iOS app? Which app version(s) are you currently running?
-
IOS, Mac, Web App. The first two latest versions of. IOS and Mac on latest updates from this week.
-
issue is not the phone app, it’s the web app. If I go to a different computer on Chrome it works, if I load up Firefox on the same computer it works but sometimes on this computer on Chrome it does not work

Hi @sebadams61 and @radiantland8d75d9f1c8 –
The first question is: are you signed into the same account in the Simplenote app?
The web app reflects what has been synced to our server. If your notes are not synced to another device, and you’ve confirmed you are signed into the same account on the apps, please log in to the web app at https://app.simplenote.com to check if the notes are correct and up-to-date.
If they are, you can safely log out and log back into the Simplenote app on all your devices. When you log in again, all of the notes stored on the Simplenote server will be re-synced, which should resolve any syncing issues going forward.
If you are signed into the same account but don’t see the correct notes in the web app and another Simplenote app, please follow these steps:
- Back up your unsynced notes by exporting them. Save the exported notes on your device.
- Log out from the app and log back into the Simplenote app on all your devices.
- Import the unsynced notes you backed up earlier to the Simplenote app.
- Check the web app again to confirm if the notes are synced.
We also recommend that you check your network connection to rule out if it’s a network issue on your devices.
-
Yes, signed into the same account in the Simplenote app?
I’ve alread tried to Log out from the app and log back into the Simplenote app on all your devices. Like I said, Chrome on one device is off, while Firefox is good, but Chrome on another device is fine.
-
@radiantland8d75d9f1c8 Just to clarify, are you still experiencing this issue or does it appear to be resolved for now?
Also, could you let us know what version of Chrome you’re using where you’re running into trouble? Have you tried temporarily disabling any browser extensions to see if that could be causing a conflict of some kind?
If you’re still experiencing the issue, have you tried logging in to Simplenote through a private/incognito window to see if things are working as expected from there?
-
Incognito window works but does not work when I click on the “Log in to “Simplenote” link in the normal Chrome window. But if I type in the code in it works.
-
My 4 different devices, 2 x MacBook, iPad and iPhone all showed different versions of my notes last night. I tried a different browser on 1 MacBook and it showed a version of notes from about 2 weeks ago. I logged out of the Web App on my main MacBook and when logging in all my notes were gone. From another browser I was able to download a backup thankfully.
I have moved to Apple Notes. Easy process to import the backup to there and I did a few notes I had updated yesterday manually to be safe (cut & paste).
3 or 4 times a year it seems Simplenote gets extremely unreliable. No more of this nonsense for me ! A shame after 10+ years.
To backup Apple Notes on the MacBook I am using: http://falcon.star-lord.me/exporter/ This works perfectly in the absence of being able to back up Apple Notes directly other than by 1 by 1 !
May Simplenote’s memory be a blessing.

To summarize your findings:
- Syncing works on your Android phone app.
- Syncing fails on your Chromebook’s Chrome browser.
- Syncing works on another Chromebook’s Chrome browser.
- Syncing works on the affected Chromebook’s Firefox browser.
- Syncing works on the affected Chromebook’s Chrome browser in Incognito mode.
- Syncing fails on the affected Chromebook’s Chrome browser when using the “Log in to Simplenote” link, but works when typing in the code directly.
Given these results, it strongly suggests that the issue is specific to your Chrome browser on the affected Chromebook.
Here are some further areas to investigate:
- Chrome Extensions: Even though you’ve cleared your browsing history, it’s possible a Chrome extension is interfering. Can you try temporarily disabling all extensions in Chrome on the affected Chromebook and then try logging in normally? If it works, you can then re-enable extensions one by one to identify the culprit.
- Chrome Settings: There might be a specific setting in your Chrome browser that’s causing the conflict. Compare the settings between your working Chrome browser (on the other Chromebook) and the problematic Chrome browser. Pay close attention to settings related to:
- Cookies and site data
- Security and privacy
- Site permissions
- Chrome Profile: It’s also possible that your Chrome profile itself is corrupted. You could try creating a new Chrome profile on the affected Chromebook and see if that resolves the issue.
It’s interesting that the “Log in to Simplenote” link triggers the problem, but typing in the code works. This suggests a potential issue with how Chrome is handling that specific redirection or link.
