New login system causes trouble

Hi there, not sure if my original post didn’t go through or it was deleted (?) but anyway, here it is again and hopefully some people will be able to reply :
I use Simplenote for a long time and it’s great. But some apps gives me things i miss with it, and these do have the ability to sync with Simplenote servers. Or rather i should say HAD?
Because they stopped on 7th august. I was away, just got back and see that. I see that now when trying to login on simplenote, it’s not requesting password anymore, rather a code sent by email.
I’m unsure who made this choice and why? I think this should just be an option (like double authentification) and we should have the possibility to keep using password to login. What do you think?
