Multiple References to the Same Footnote Results in Duplicate Footnotes

As stated in the topic title, when referencing the same footnote more than once, rather than both pointing to the same footnote, a duplicate footnote is created.
For example:First footnote [^1] Second footnote [^2] Third footnote [^1] ------ [^1]: This is the first footnote. [^2]: This is the second footnote.In the code block above, you would think that both calls to [^1] would take you to the same footnote. However, in reality, a duplicate [^1]: definition is created in the final document. This results in unnecessary bloat in the footnote section.

Hi. Are you sure this is about the Simplenote app from Automattic? Simplenote is a note-taking app with an attached Markdown viewer.

This has now been reported to our developers. It will likely take some time to address this particular issue, which unfortunately I don’t have an exact timeframe on.
