MIsising Note version history after System Upgrade
-
Hi,
I recently upgraded my Linux system from Linux Mint 20.3 to 22, and I have now noticed that the version history for 1 of my notes has been mostly deleted – showing only about 1 year of history (11 months actually) but not further back. there are no deleted notes in the trash and no deleted notes.
Please can you contact me so we can figure out how to retrieve this version history from your servers? I upgraded my system on 9th/10th November, so it’s about 2 weeks ago that the version history would have been deleted.

Hi. I’ve found that history in the apps may be truncated (I’m on iOS), but the history is more complete in the web app, app.simplenote.com. You could check whether the history is complete in the web app. But there may be no way to restore that to your computer.

The number of note revisions available in the note history will be different depending on the platform where you’re using the app:
- Mac native: 30
- iOS and Android: 30
- Web/Windows/Linux: 60
Are you finding that the note history is showing less revisions than expected?
-
yes – I am only getting 12 months of revisions being displayed, when there is at least 2 years. I only use the app via Linux or web app.

There is a limitation on the number of revisions that we keep for each note. And that limitation is based on a number of revisions, not based on a length of time:
- Mac native: 30 revisions
- iOS and Android: 30 revisions
- Web/Windows/Linux: 60 revisions
Are you finding that the note history is showing less revisions than the limits? Or is the timeframe missing beyond the number of revisions that are kept?
