I had a “ToDo” note that I have worked on for years with contact info I may not have anywhere else. I can no longer find that file in Trash or anywhere else. I certainly never attempted to delete that note in any way and absolutely did not follow up with permanently deleting in Trash. When I looked at Trash, there were some new notes. I tried to look at them but it looked like they were empty. They had options for deleting permanently or recoving. When I hit recover, the files disappeared.

I really need the “ToDo” file – is there any way to recover.

If the note is saved to our servers it will be at the web login @johnswift37 has suggested.

Lost notes can usually be found either in the Trash or in the history of an existing note. We recommend checking the trash and revisions in whichever app you use the most, as well as the web app at https://app.simplenote.com. You’ll want to sort the notes by the last modified date from the app settings before you start checking.

It’s worth restoring notes from the Trash so you can view their history. Pay particular attention to any blank notes you can see or titles you don’t recognize.

To search the history, open a note and click the clock icon at the top, then move the slider.

Also, use the search field to check for content that may have been in the note. We don’t recommend just searching for the title, as we’ve seen people have trouble finding notes when accidentally deleting or changing the title text.
