Lost my notes

    Hi, I need urgent help please. For some reason I’ve lost a good chunk of notes, I’ve checked the app on my laptop and my phone as well as the online website and I can’t find what I’m looking for in the history or trash. I really need these notes, I’m not sure what happened but the title for my notes is still there as well as the date (that I usually write myself after I finish taking notes). Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    It seems like there was a synching error as there’s a time gap when I check the history

    There was a major server problem between August 6 and 10, 2023. It mainly seemed to cause duplication of new text, but it also caused text to disappear. See discussion here: https://forums.simplenote.com/forums/topic/simplenote-servers-performance-issues-august-2023/#post-763.

    Sync problems at other times require more expert help than me. Sync normally works fine when the device/computer is on-line while editing notes.

  • Hi @skareem01! The slider of the history may not show the records in chronological order because of how syncing works on Simplenote.

    For example, I can make a change on a note on Device A at 00:00 and the note doesn’t get synced to Simplenote servers probably due to an internet connection issue.

    Then, I might make another change on the same note on Device B at around 00:30 and the note gets synced to the Simplenote servers.

    When I access Device A with an active internet connection, the changes I made at 00:00 will be synced to the server and overwrite my changes that were made on Device B.

    In this case, the slider will show the record of 00:00 being the latest change, followed by 00:30.

    Can you try going back through your note’s history to see if the revisions may be out of order?
