Lost Five Hours of Notes
-
I was taking notes at a conference, with what seemed to me to be continuous access to the internet, and I just reopened the app this evening to find that five hours of notes are gone.
How can I recover them? I’ve restarted both my phone and the app, I have confirmed that the web version also lacks what I entered, and nothing is in the Trash. The notes literally just have a history up to 11:46am, and then nothing, even though I was adding to those notes until 5:00pm, and also created new notes that are nowhere to be found.

Hi @morningstarrb,
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble. Here are a few things you could check.
Lost notes can usually be found either in the Trash or in the history of an existing note. We recommend checking the trash and revisions in whichever app you use the most, as well as the web app at https://app.simplenote.com.
You’ll want to sort the notes by the last modified date from the app settings before you start checking.
It’s worth restoring notes from the Trash so you can view their history. Pay particular attention to any blank notes you can see or titles you don’t recognize.
To search the history, open a note and click the clock icon at the top, then move the slider.
Also, use the search field to check for content that may have been in the note. We don’t recommend just searching for the title, as we’ve seen people have trouble finding notes when accidentally deleting or changing the title text.
