Long delay when starting windows Simplenote app
-
I have recently upgraded to a new Surface laptop and the simplenote app for windows takes around 35-40 seconds to load every time I open it.
Using version 2.21.0
This is a lot worse than on my older laptop which opened it in 1-2 seconds.
I have tried both the windows store install and .msi direct from the website.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
I have run chkdsk and sfc /scannow to repair any possible windows files damage.
All my other apps open as quickly as they should.
My old laptop was running Windows 10, the new one runs Windows 11.
I have installed the latest version of simplenote on a separate Windows 10 desktop and there is no delay.
I have also tried excluding the executable from Bitdefender antivirus, but that doesn’t help.
Any idea what could be causing this or some other troubleshooting steps I could try? I see that there is a debug option within the app, but I can’t run that until the app is started and the delay has already happened.

Just asking. Does the new computer have an internet connection before you try to open the app? It will need that to populate/update the notes list.

Yes, the new one is connected to wifi long before starting simplenote. I usually end up starting it long after booting once everything else has settled down.

Hi @keiplm02 👋
The Simplenote app starts up within seconds on my Windows 11 device. How many notes are there under your Simplenote account?
Did you have trouble accessing the Simplenote web app at https://app.simplenote.com? Just to rule out any network block to the Simplenote server.

I have around 200 notes or less.
The simplenote.com site logs in within seconds on my laptop.
I have tried logging in with my Windows 11 laptop that has the delay from multiple wifi networks on multiple different ISPs. It acts the same no matter the connection.
The app logs in within seconds from my Windows 10 desktop.
I also completely uninstalled Bitdefender Antivirus on this laptop and still see the long startup delay.
Any other suggestions?
