Keyboard hides cursor when cursor is placed at bottom of long note on Android

On SimpleNote 2.26 (155) on Android 13, when you place the cursor at the end of a long note, the keyboard rises up and hides the cursor, and the note does not scroll to keep the cursor in view. Instead, the user has to scroll manually or start typing in order cause the note to scroll and bring the cursor into view.

The following video illustrates this behavior:

It seems like this might be an Android problem, rather than a SimpleNote problem. I just tried doing the same thing with Google Keep and I got the same behavior. It would be nice if the SimpleNote developers could find a solution (it would make SimpleNote unequivocally better than Keep!) but I acknowledge this might be an unfixable underlying issue with the UI widgets provided by Android.

Thanks for digging into this and reporting it to help make Simplenote the best app it can be!

As you’ve found, this is an Android OS issue rather than something specific to Simplenote. The cursor will stay where you put it, even as you scroll away from it. At this time we don’t have a solution for this Android OS behavior you’ve noted.

Please, do let us know if you find anything else in the app that needs our attention.

This also happens on iPadOS version 17.2, Simplenote 4.49. Sometimes the text does not move up when the keyboard is opened. And if the insertion point is near the end of the note, it cannot be scrolled up. The app behaves as if the keyboard was not there. I previously reported this as related to Slide Over/Split View, and seemingly only when the Simplenote window is on the right side. But once it fails, it remains broken until I force-quit (kill) the app and re-open it.
