Issues withthe new email code log in and sync
-
I would like to report a couple of issues.
- For any reason if the first time I try logging in with the email pass code, I can not log in for a while. If I try to log in again, Simplenote will not send me a new code to my email. Is there a time limit before it is going to send me a new code.
- The code works only one time. And I can not get a new code when I am trying to log in again. Or when I am trying to log in from two devices, I have to wait till sometime passes. Please send a new code when requested. I doube delaying it for 5 or 15 minutes make it any more secure. It is already as secure as the user’s email.
- This new method is logging me out quite often without giving me an indication it is not connected. I may be creating or editing notes and later found out it is not connected when I do not see the changes reflected on another device. When I refresh the browser window with the changes, I lose these changes. Please make it easily visible if it is logged out. Many of the recent complaints about sync issues could be coming from this.

Hi. I guess you’re using the Simplenote web app at app.simplenote.com. You should see a little busy wheel in the sidebar whenever you make a change to a note.
When logging in, you can tap the link that says “login manually”, then you can login with email and password. That may be more reliable for you.

Thanks for your reply. I am use web versions at app.simplenote.com and https://app.simplenote.com/old/. Now I notice this syncing icon on the left sidebar when I am using the new site. It does not show this sync icon in the old site, which I prefer because it has better menu functions and is easier to use.😢
I use multiple PCs throughout the day and leave my web browsers open for days. So, I do not log back in unless I get kicked out. I guess I can start making a habit of refreshing the SimpleNote webpage every time I move to a new PC.

That “old” web app was replaced 5 years ago. It likely has not been maintained and should be regarded as deprecated (do not use for current work). I suggest you should focus on the current web app, and drop the old one.
I find that the web app logs me out every 14 days. In between, I can close the page, exit the browser, and reopen the page without logging in again. So there’s no advantage in keeping the page open on multiple browsers, and challenging the sync mechanism.
