Issues selecting blank lines on iOS

When trying to move the cursor to a blank line on iOS by tapping, it automatically selects the nearest line with text.

When I try to select the empty line by holding down then moving the cursor, the cursor disappears completely.

This makes moving text to empty lines by cutting/pasting very difficult. To paste text to an empty line, I need to paste it onto a line with text, then go back and add a new line which is not ideal.

Hi. I’ve used Simplenote (the app) on iPad for many years, and I have a couple of suggestions. First, it’s easier to put the cursor at the end of a line of text, then hit return to go to a new line before pasting. Second, the keyboard seems to influence where you can put the cursor. You may have better luck if you hide the KB (down arrow) before positioning the cursor. I suspect that these features (and annoyances) are baked into Apple library code, so there’s not much that Simplenote can do to change it.
