Is sticky-widget a new function of bug?
-
I see a sticky line on the top of a note when I scroll it. It appears at random. I check it with Chrome devtools and it has “div class=sticky-widget”, as you can see in the attached photo.
It might be something to do with a multibyte character (I use Japanese) and might not happen with English.
I use Windows 10 and Chrome (latest version). It occurs in a secret mode in Chrome and Firefox as well.
If this is a bug, I hope the team will fix it. If not, I would like to disable it because it bothers writing.

@avataryoshi2 Are you receiving an error when trying to upload the image? Can you try sharing the image with us using a file-sharing service like Dropbox or Google Drive? This will hopefully help us replicate the issue with the sticky line.

Here is a link to the screenshot.

Thanks for the screenshot. I couldn’t reproduce and see the same HTML element in the Simplenote Web App https://app.simplenote.com/.
Do you perhaps using a certain Chrome extension? If you haven’t done so, can you please try temporarily disabling all of your extension and check if you can see that element? Please let us know your findings.

As I mentioned, it appears in a secret mode (no extentions) in Chrome and Firefox as well.
Maybe, You could try to copy a text below and paste it in the middle of your note. Scroll it and see if it reproduces the problem.

I don’t recall seeing a
sticky-widgetclass in Simplenote code.I am unable to reproduce the problem when I scroll. I am attaching a screenshot of what I see in my browser:

Please let us know the following:
- What device you use Simplenote on
- The Chrome version you have
- Do you go to https://app.simplenote.com/old/ or https://app.simplenote.com/?
-
Device: HP desktop PC
OS: Windows 10 pro (version: 22H2)
Chrome version: 128.0.6613.85
I have never used https://app.simplenote.com/old/ , but I check it and the problem does not happen.
I have used https://app.simplenote.com/ for a few years but it has never occured before.
So, I believe it has something to do with the recent update of https://app.simplenote.com/
I uploaded a screenshot with entire HTML code that has the sticky-widget tag. So, please check it and see if you are familiar with it.

I still don’t see the
sticky-widgettag. Please share a screen recording showing the steps you are taking to produce the console output. That way we can do the same on our end and try to reproduce this. -
I uploaded a screen recording and a text that I used.
The sticky line appears at ramdom, but in this case a space before letter 4 is causing the problem. Without the space, it does not happen.
You can copy and paste the text and see if you can reproduce the sticky line.

Thanks for your detailed report and providing the screen recording and text!
We now have an open issue on GitHub to address it by potentially disabling the “Sticky scroll” feature. You can find the discussion here:
https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/issues/3250
We encourage you to continue the conversation on the GitHub issue. This allows you to see any updates or solutions proposed by others experiencing the same problem, and you can even add further comments or information if needed.
