Import file not valid
-
I upgraded from the old Notes App. I exported my notes as per the app function, this generated a .json file. But when I import the same file in the new app, I receive the error message “Invalid file format”. I have a Pixel 7. How do I restore my notes in the same format as I had them in the previous app?

Hi. Which “old” and “new” apps are you referring to? I believe Simplenote has been stable for quite a while, and always accesses the same cloud servers. So your notes should be available wherever you install Simplenote. There’s no need to save and restore them.

I have been using the Notes app for a few years. Now there was a compulsory upgrade to a “Pro” version for 99c. I paid this, then exported and saved the data from the old version as per the prompts, but when I go into Settings on the new app and try to import the file, I receive the error message as described above.

I think you may be in the wrong forum. This is the forum for Simplenote, a free multi-platrorm app from Automattic. It is not called “Notes”, and there is no Pro version.

Maybe you’re thinking of the Android app Simple Notes Pro by “Simple Mobile Tool”. You would need to find their support site.
