Follow link in Devuan Excalibur KDE Plasma opens file://…kioexec in browser.

  Rather than opening a link in my default browser, “follow link” opens the web browser with the following URL, rather than the actual URL:

  file:///home/user/.cache/kioexec/krun/2872_0/viewtopic.php

  Not sure what is going on, but I assume that this has something with the way KDE Plasma is treating the URL with the helper program (?) kioexec.

  Is this a mime type issue?

  Hi. I don’t believe this is an issue for the Simplenote app from Automattic. Have you maybe posted in the wrong forum?

  I am sure that I have posted in the correct forum. When I am in Simplenote and hover over a url in a note, the expected behavior is to be able to click “follow link” in the bubble that appears. This does not happen. Instead I get the behavior as described in the subject.

  Hi @globetrotterdkfab8130ace,

  This is actually a known KDE Plasma issue rather than a Simplenote bug. What’s happening is that KDE’s kioexec component is intercepting the URL request from Simplenote (and likely other apps too) and downloading the page to a local cache file instead of passing the URL directly to your browser. This has been reported across many applications on KDE Plasma, not just Simplenote.

  Please visit the KDE community forums or your Devuan support channels to help you with the kioexec configuration.
