First unexpected and frightening sight when opening the app
-
I noticed that when opening the app on an iPhone or Android phone, the first page briefly displays a message such as ‘You have no notes. Create your first note.’
I find this stressful when the app is just loading the notes that will appear a few seconds later.
A message such as “Loading notes” would be more appropriate.
-
I believe that should only happen the first time you open the app following installation. And, until the app has accessed the server, it really doesn’t know whether you are a new user or not.
-
Unfortunately not, it happens… every time I open the app.
Especially on my 5-year-old Android phone, probably because it is slow and I have over 2,000 notes, which take a while to load.

Thanks for letting us know. Do you also see the same welcome message on your Simplenote iPhone? Is it also quite an old device?

Hello @staff-fred
I have retested on both phones.
On the Android phone, at launch, the following will happen
- Simplenote logo will show ca 500 ms
- Message to create first note will show ca 3 s
If I have launched Simplenote recently, this runs much faster (but why is the message still showing up?)
I remember seeing it on the iPhone, but cannot reproduce this behaviour now.
