Error message ‘not a valid Win32 application’
-
Hi,
can anyone tell me if simplenote no longer works with Windows 7?
Version 2.22.0 worked perfectly for me until today.
After updating to version 2.22.2 I received an error message.I then completely uninstalled simplenote and reinstalled it.
I installed and uninstalled the following versions both locally and for all user accounts:https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases/tag/v2.22.2
Simplenote-win-2.22.2-x64.exe
Simplenote-win-2.22.2.exe
I always get the error message:
‘not a valid Win32 application’I get this error message both when I install the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version
Can anyone tell me which version might still work under Windows 7?
Thanks.

Electron, which is part of Simplenote’s packaging toolchain, no longer supports Windows 7 and 8 as of the end of 2022: https://www.electronjs.org/blog/windows-7-to-8-1-deprecation-notice
If a previous version of the app was working for you, you can download older version of the app here: https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases
However, since the app relies on sync, I would recommend using the web app in your browser rather than an older version of the app: https://app.simplenote.com/

Hi,
Thank you for the information!
I couldn’t explain the behavior yesterday and assumed that there was an error on simplenote’s part.
I hope that Firefox version ESR will be supported for some time.
Best regards

@sunnykroket You’re welcome! I understand. Hope you can find some workaround to keep using Simplenote on your device.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to turn off the notification about the availability of a new version if you have to continue using an old version?
Best regards -
@sunnykroket Unfortunately, there isn’t an option to disable these notifications within Simplenote.
