Embed an image or link to an image in Simplenote ?

Im trying to figure out if I can link to an image that opens in a browser OR I can embed an image, that is then shown with the text. The simplenote helpfunctin menstions embed, but does not really give a clear answer.

Hi. Have you tried the described embedding process? If it does work, it is likely only in the Markdown preview, or in the published note. The image will certainly not appear in the Simplenote editor window. Note that you can long press on a URL to open it in a browser internal to Simplenote, but this only works when the screen keyboard is not visible (on a touch device).

On Ios A simple weblink with an image will open in a separate window if you longpress. The prescribed embedding process seem to do the same. If no preview with text, I am confused about what can be gained with using markdown code with the weblink.

It’s not possible to upload or attach anything to a note in Simplenote other than text. However, you can use Markdown to embed an image by linking to one that’s already hosted on the web.
For example, using the Markdown format:
The image itself won’t show up in the editing view, but it will display in Markdown preview or in a published note. If you just want a clickable link, you can also paste the image URL directly into your note, and on iOS you can long-press to open it in a browser window.
